1987

We found a packet labled "Photography course - Around the house" in my childish scrawl, and dated 9/87. I have no memory of taking these, but since I was 9 (and-a-half) at the time, I'm not too surprised.

Scenes

My room, and our A-frame clubhose on the lawn.

Textures

Our asbestos panel heaters, which the cats fought underneath.

Winter's dry yellow grass and smooth blue sky.

1996

These ones I do remember shooting, in first year. I wanted to experiment with black and white, so found some old Tri-X, rolled it and and shot it off experimentally. Then I must have got busy, and never got around to developing it.

Pinhole

My Nikon F and a home-made pinhole - aluminium foil taped over a hole in a body cap.

The unblackened foil gave strange effects in sunlight.

Walking

I repaired a Konica C35 to carry around with me - walking home was often quicker than the bus.

Empire Road was one long construction site, now an interchange and a row of office blocks.

They kept the palm tree, however.
