Emerging from the tunnel, I greeted the guy in green in my best Amharic, to his enormous surprise. Nobody in the Simiens was surprised, but here they get enough tourists to know that farangis can't speak the language. Unfortuantely, I couldn't reward his enthusiasm with any further conversation!
